XBox 360 .AU launch date slips January 29, 2006

Well, it appears that the launch date for the XBox 360 has slipped to March 23. I’ve been eyeing the 360, and its built-in integration with an XP Media Centre Edition PC, as a possible ‘out of the box’ solution for a living room media player. And hey, its a cracking good game console as well! All this slippage does is give other possible solutions the opportunity to appear (Apple Media Centre anyone?).

I wonder if the launch slippage is due to feverish re-engineering of the XBox and its thermonuclear power supply to run cooler in a sweltering Australian summer?

I think that it is more likely that the launch slippage is due to a desire for the “sweltering Australian summer” to ease into a not-so sweltering Aussie autumn.. Why re-engineer when a seasonal change can do the job for you?

(Of course, that just means the “sweltering American summer” is coming up… and I think that MS would be more concerned about the US market)
